Why inner beauty is so important - a case for self importance

Inner beauty is important for a number of reasons. It is closely linked to self-love and self-worth, and it can have a positive impact on our confidence, inner connection, happiness, and peace.

In all honesty I’ve been lacking both in my life for some time, I never thought I was prettier enough or slim enough so I would constantly criticise myself. Then I discovered makeup and used it to create an enhanced glamorous version of myself, that would leave me feeling confident and beautiful. I loved it so much that I decided to become a Makeup Artist! Watching my clients change their self perception once I had finished made me feel like I was able to serve them in the same way I did myself.

Something has changed… coming to Bali and stripping myself from the crutches of makeup has truly allowed me to see ME, to see my true self and to fall in love with me, my reflection in the mirror I spend more time admiring. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a journey and I’m still on it but wow, I’m definitely embracing my inner beauty so much more. I’m being seen for the person I am, the soul I am and that brings me such joy that my inner beauty shines even more.

What has inspired me to write this blog is that today, as i sat in a coffee shop with no makeup on, a big spot on my chin and my eyes looking so tired having woken up at 5am, a man came and sat at the table next to me. he smiled at me, i smiled back thinking, gosh i look so rough!! after a couple of minutes we started talking and one of the first things he said was 'wow, your eyes are so beautiful, they shine'. I was thinking seriously, are you sure!!! then over the course of our conversation, which ended up being 2 hours long, he paid me so many compliments because what he saw was my inner beauty, my soul which has been feeling so at peace.

Unfortunately, in today’s society, inner beauty is often overlooked in favour of outward appearance. This is especially true in the media, where we are constantly bombarded with images of perfect bodies and flawless faces. It’s no wonder that so many people struggle with self-acceptance and confidence.

Thankfully, there is a growing movement of people who are promoting inner beauty and self-love. By increasing our awareness of the importance of inner beauty, we can start to shift the focus away from outer appearance and towards what really matters.

What is inner beauty?

Inner beauty is a concept that goes far beyond physical attractiveness. It is the essence of who we are on the inside – our values, qualities, and beliefs that make us unique. It is a state of being in which we appreciate, celebrate, and accept every part of ourselves, flaws and all. Inner beauty is something that can be seen and felt. It has the power to transcend outward appearance, enabling us to connect with both ourselves and others on a deeper level. It can be expressed through our actions, words, and even the way we carry ourselves.

How can I improve my self-acceptance?

Improving self-acceptance starts with understanding and loving ourselves for who we are, flaws and all. The first step is to become aware of our negative self-talk. We need to acknowledge how we think and talk about ourselves, and to start replacing our unhelpful thoughts with kinder, more compassionate words. We should also surround ourselves with people who support us and make us feel worthy. It’s also important to celebrate our successes, no matter how small, in order to boost our self-confidence. Another great way to improve self-acceptance is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is a practice of being present in the moment, and it can help us to appreciate and acknowledge our feelings and emotions. With regular practice, mindfulness can help us to cultivate an attitude of self-acceptance and compassion.

Why is self-acceptance important?

Self-acceptance is essential for our psychological and emotional wellbeing. Without it, we can easily become overwhelmed with feelings of insecurity, shame, and worthlessness. Self-acceptance enables us to appreciate our strengths, while also accepting our flaws and weaknesses without judgment. It gives us the freedom to be our true selves, unapologetically and without fear. By cultivating a mindset of self-acceptance, we can start to move away from a fear-based mentality and towards a place of self-love and compassion.

What are the benefits of self-acceptance?

When we practice self-acceptance, we open ourselves up to a number of potential benefits. Firstly, self-acceptance can positively impact our relationship with ourselves, our bodies, and our lives. It can help us to feel more confident and secure in our own skin. When we accept ourselves, we become less prone to comparing ourselves to others, and less likely to feel envy or jealousy when we see someone else’s accomplishments or successes. Self-acceptance gives us the freedom to be our true selves. We can make choices and live a life that is true to our values and beliefs. We can follow our passions and create our own definition of success.

How can I learn to love myself?

Learning to love yourself is a life-long journey, but there are a few steps that you can take to get started. One of the best things you can do is to practice self-compassion and kindness. Talk to yourself the same way you would talk to a friend. Replace unhelpful comments with a more compassionate and understanding voice. It’s also important to take care of your physical and mental wellbeing. Eat a balanced diet, get plenty of exercise, and find activities that make you feel good. Take some time out for yourself on a regular basis. Spend time in nature, read a book, listen to music, and do anything else that makes you feel relaxed and happy.

If you’re struggling to learn to love yourself and practice self-acceptance, it can help to get outside support. Talking to friends and family can often be a great source of support. You can also reach out to online communities, where you can connect with people who are on a similar journey. Therapy is another option. A professional therapist can help you to explore your beliefs and feelings, and to develop more positive coping strategies.

Inner beauty is important for everyone. Regardless of age, gender, race, or social status, we all deserve to live a life that is rooted in self-love and self-acceptance. By recognising and celebrating our unique qualities and values, we can all benefit from the power of inner beauty.

Inner beauty is an important part of a happy and healthy life. By increasing our awareness of the importance of inner beauty and self-acceptance, we can create a society that celebrates and appreciates everyone, regardless of background or appearance. Through self-love and self-compassion, we can learn to appreciate, accept, and celebrate our true selves.
